Success Stories of BIG Grantees at Venture Center

Bharat Agri 

After graduation, Siddharth Dialani moved to Israel, lived on a farm and learnt how farming was done in the country. Why not attempt something similar in India, thought Dialani. On his return to India, he got associated with ICRISAT in Hyderabad, where they did research on what needs to be done for India. It was while doing this research that they applied for and got funding under BIRAC’s Biotechnology Ignition Grant, which helped them complete R&D on their product.

Sensivision Health Technologies

Sensivision is a medical devices company working in the neo-natal space. Jayadeep Unni, founder of Sensivision Health Technologies, was a BIG Grantee at Venture Center. According to Jayadeep, “Funding is just one aspect of the journey, albeit an important one. It is equally important to resolve early in the journey questions over the product, viability and the business.”

Synersense

Gunjan Patel always wanted to become a technology entrepreneur. It was during his time at R2D2 IIT Madras that he fine-tuned his idea of a wearable and portable gait monitoring device that can potentially impact the lives of over 80 million people in the country affected by locomotion disability.

Bioprime Agrisolutions

It was around 2015. Renuka Diwan had finished her Ph.D in plant sciences from the University of Pune, followed by a post-doctorate in genetic engineering. After this, she got two women scientists’ positions, but she was not sure about what she wanted to do, which is when she met Dr. Premnath Venugopalan at Venture Center. Cut to 2023, and Bioprime is a leading agricultural startup. All of this transformation was kick started with BIRAC’s Biotechnology Ignition Grant!

Teralumen Solutions

Dr. Jyotirmayee Dash is building India’s first Terahertz company that is using terahertz technology for accurate cancer margin detection. BIRAC’s BIG grant helped Jyoti kickstart her deeptech venture Teralumen by supporting product prototyping and preclinical validation. As her BIG partner, Venture Center has supported her entire journey, starting with pre-submission mentoring to successfully presenting before the committee and more!
